How to get in bikini shape.
Does the thought of a bikini or something else itsy bitsy stress you out this summer? Have no fear boot camp is here
Getting bare after months of elastic-waisted sweats, comfort foods and nightly dates with the couch can be harrowing.
Most women slip into misery when slipping into a swimsuit.
According to one survey, 68% of women dread shopping for bathing suits and would rather vacuum, do laundry and clean toilets than try on swimsuits.

Three-way mirrors and fluorescent lights are punishing, but so too is public exposure when parading around in small pieces of spandex — the mere thought brings us to our (dimpled) knees.
Swimsuit dread stalks us all, says Allan Fine. "Body issues attack everyone. The second you walk into the swimsuit department you break out into a sweat."
Some stay the painful course of finding the perfect suit to cinch, flatten or camouflage while others flee, crushed and empty-handed.
"Weight isn't the only thing women are unhappy with; it can be saggy breasts, cellulite, ribs showing, stocky thighs — there's always something you hate," says Fine creator of Fitness Boot camps Canada and a 20 year veteran of the fitness industry who specializes in body image and eating disorders.
No matter how smart we are, we're all stupid over our body's perceived flaws. "Society has a low tolerance for different body types and shapes, so because of that we're less tolerant of our own bodies."
Unrealistic beauty standards nag us and fuel self-loathing. Stats report an epidemic of body hatred — 90% of women are unhappy with their bodies.
Fine suggests that before leaving the house, try on last year's swimsuit so you know what to expect and to minimize shock. "Women have unrealistic fantasies that somehow they'll go out, buy a swimsuit and miraculously look good, and when they don't, they leave the store feeling depressed, awful and disgusted with themselves," says Fine.
Don't panic. Be proactive. You can always shop online for swimsuits and forget dieting. "Get to a healthy weight you can live with" through positive and healthy lifestyle changes and maintenance, says Fine Director of Fitness Boot Camps Canada.
Throw off the shackles of body bashing. "Love yourself enough to invest in yourself and your health.
HOW TO TIP THE SCALES BACK
- Cut out carbohydrates at night. These cause major fat storage to occur and send your blood-sugar levels haywire when you eat them too late at night.
- Eat frequent, small meals throughout the day – don't overeat at one time.
- Weightlifting boosts metabolic rate and turns your body into a fat-burning machine.
- Drink at least 2-3 litres of water daily. Water helps get rid of toxins in the body and transport nutrients.
- Do cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach – like a 30 to 45-minute walk. Research suggests that cardiovascular work on an empty stomach can help burn up to three times more fat.
- Lose the booze.Alcohol causes more fat storage and lowers fat metabolism
LOSE THE WINTER WEIGHT
If unhealthy pounds have accumulated over the winter, then start pulling your weight. Forget seeking perfection, it's all about maintaining a healthy body weight.
"I recommend making eating right and working out apart of your lifestyle year round, and not just something you do to look good in time for summer," says personal trainer Allan Fine, who's getting lots of SOS swimsuit stress calls now that the nice weather has arrived.
"The problem is most people start with unrealistic expectations and quickly lose motivation."
Forget being perfect. "Start with a goal in mind and try to get a bit better each week.Small improvements made consistently lead to big changes over time."
Synergize proper nutrition, moderate aerobic exercise and resistance training, says Kelly."The whole idea is just to raise your metabolism so you can burn more calories, lose fat and better maintain your results."
Recent studies tout interval training over regular cardio for burning fat, says Fine of www.fbcc.ca "And resistance training is essential to maintaining your lean muscle as you lose weight. Lean muscle actually helps burn more calories."
Incorporate a "cheat meal" ( not a cheat day as this can blow a whole weeks work) once a week to reward your efforts and prevent you from feeling deprived. "Even apoor plan is better than no plan, and as long as you're consistently making efforts and reviewing your progress, you will be successful."

Learn how to read a cryptic food label can pave the way to a healthy, nutritious diet.
When is the last time you heard you are what you eat!
Do you really know what you're eating? It may look like a simple slice of bread or helping of canned peas, but although the food itself seems harmless, the product's nutrition facts label may reveal a different story. Did you know that food manufacturers often mislead the public in a attempt to sell you their product. For instance the word "LIGHT" on a food label can refer to the texture or color and can have nothing to do with the fat or calorie content.

"We need to be more aware of what we’re putting in our bodies," says Allan Fine, a nutritional consultant with Fitness Boot Camps Canada of Calgary Alberta "Especially now that we see the connection between our food intake, obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes and cancer, our food intake and specific diseases." These diseases include, among others, hypertension from too much salt and high cholesterol – which can lead to heart disease and stroke – from too much fat. (more…)
Here Comes the ( Fitness ) Bride!!
Spring or early summer is the most popular time for weddings. But no matter when you're planning your wedding, the stress can be overwhelming! The average cost of a wedding in the North America is over $22,000. About $7,630 of that is spent on the wedding reception (source: American Wedding Study, 2002). From increasing costs to angry relatives to the never-ending guest list, a wedding brings stress and frustration for the bride.

Unfortunately, we often resort to binge eating and 'comfort foods' during times of stress, which of course puts on the pounds and creates even more stress! "I bought what size wedding dress?!?!?"
Approximately 7 out of every 10 brides crash diet or starve prior to their wedding date . Real health and fitness experts will tell you that crash diets and starvation diets are the worst thing we can do! "If you crash-diet, you run the risk of comprising your health … so that your hair, skin, nails don't look good for your big day or in the wedding pictures. If you want to lose weight before your wedding, look for a balanced eating plan"
So what's a blushing bride to do if she has only six weeks until her wedding, and the stress is building up faster than the potluck table at church? There is hope…..
First of all, start exercising now. It's crunch time, and while the old 30-minutes per day, 3 times per week may work for the general public it's probably not enough for the bride. Shoot for 30-minutes per day, six days per week. Be sure to include both cardio and resistance training so you'll get some muscle tone while you're burning fat.
Second, banish all high-fat junk food from the house. Be strong! You can do this! No Twinkies, no bacon, no chocolate cream pie. Eat plenty of lean protein (skinless chicken breast, fish, etc.) and absolutely pig out on fresh vegetables! Drink plenty of water, and in all cases avoid the empty calories found in soda, alcohol and that sweet kids juice.
Finally, be wary of the weight-loss 'tricks' that you'll hear from your girlfriends. There is no magic pill that will make you a size 6 by the wedding, so don't experiment. Don't starve yourself because that will make you grumpy, make you retain fat, eliminate muscle tone, and set you up for failure. Don't listen to the gossip about the newest 'cabbage diet' or 'grapefruit diet' or 'Hollywood diet'. Instead, stick with a balanced diet and exercise…..this is the only proven way to lose fat and look your best.
Two more bits of advice for the bride: Eat breakfast the morning of your wedding day – 8 out of every 10 brides don't eat breakfast which will only make you miserable and weak during the reception! Most importantly, remember that he knew exactly what you looked like when he proposed to you, and he still proposed! He loves you the way you are, and all these fears about size and weight are unfounded anyway!
Relax, enjoy yourself, and make the lifestyle changes that will bring results. Have a great wedding!
Why it's so important that you make a lifestyle change not go on another DIET!!
As a trainer and nutritional consultant for more than 20 years now it always amazes me how most people are trying to find the next quick fix or fad diet. What’s more important to you: that fast-food meal loaded with fat, sugar, and empty calories that will eventually make you feel sluggish and guilty – or taking the time to implement this nutrition plan so that you look, feel, and perform at your very best? The answer is simple, you life!! It wont be easy but making the change necessary, actually taking action, is the hard part. I promise you though if you do it will be one of the most important things you do in your whole life!
In order to be successful at leading a healthier lifestyle, you need to have knowledge and a good understanding of the best, most effective ways to do that. Fitness Boot Camps Canada Eating Plan will give you that. But I also want you to know that it’s okay to be afraid and uncomfortable with this lifestyle change; that’s natural. Changing old habits isn’t easy. In general, people have a hard time adjusting to change. Change is made even more difficult when we’re not certain we want the goals we have set out to achieve. Change is impossible when we set ourselves unrealistic goals (see below for help in setting goals).
But it truly is possible when we set realistic goals and follow a plan that we already know works very well, especially when we modify it so that it’s right for you, for your lifestyle and personal preferences. If you have a willingness to work through the initial emotional discomfort as you begin this new nutrition plan, you’ll find the confidence, commitment, determination, and belief in your own self-worth that will ease the way.
Healthy living means making important lifestyle changes, changes in the way you eat and exercise and, I hope you’re coming to see, in the way you think. It may sound overwhelming at first, but it’s really quite simple. Remember: these changes will be customized to fit you. They’ll also never be painful or hard to stick with. Many Fitness Boot Camps Canada Eating Plan Members have already successfully made the change to a better way of eating. You can too, once you understand how easy it is.
Making the change to The Fitness Boot Camps Canada Eating Plan is a process you will enjoy and can be proud of. The easiest way to go about it is to take it one step at a time. If you try to hurry change, chances are that it won’t be permanent. It’s important to understand that once you put into effect this plan I’m teaching you, it is yours forever and will make a substantial impact on your life – and the change necessary will become easier each and every new day.
Once you truly believe that you have the ability to find a comfortable balance of food, activity, and life attitudes, you can break free from traditional fad DIETS forever and begin implementing this plan, which produces amazing results and is enjoyable all along the way. Action creates motivation. Once you understand and implement The Fitness Boot Camps Canada Eating Plan, you will become successful. Once you start achieving great results, the excitement and fun you experience will make the change well worth the effort. Enjoying the many great benefits of a healthy lifestyle will help provide the impetus to stay on the healthy road you’ve taken. Get started today in making that change – you’ll be very glad you did.
What to look for this Summer Before your Join a Boot Camp Fitness Program.
What to look for this Summer Before your Join a Boot Camp Fitness Program.
With the explosion of Boot Camp Fitness Programs on the market today here is what you need to ask yourself before you go to one.
Just read on and see the difference we can make in your life!
Here is the criteria you should use to decide which program is best for you.
There are many fitness programs in Canada.
What criteria can you use to decide which program is best for you. Here is what we think you should consider to find a great fitness program.
1. Do they have a pre and post evaluation – where they measure your body fat, inches and do before and after pictures. Many do not unfortunately, how can you assess if you have lost fat or muscle during your program. If your goal is to lose fat, lose weight and inches then if they don't measure those things how will you know?
2. Do they play music during your camp.- Try this, sit there in silence for 1 minute only. Now imagine working out. Now imagine working out for 1-1/2 hours with dead silence except for the sound of others sweating and groaning.
Now imagine working out to great motivating high energy music. Which would you rather do?
3. Are they for beginners or only for advanced clients.- I see many camps using sand bags or military style training using heavy wooden polls or dragging tires. This is VERY dangerous to the beginner. You will see injuries and you can hurt yourself very badly in these camps unless your already very fit. Do they go outside when there is lots of snow on the ground or it's raining heavialy? If your goal is to get in shape and lose weight and inches and you hurt yourself the very first week then how is that serving you?
4. Using body weight training mostly.- This is a biggy, I have seen many camps using only clients body weight. This does NOT work for weight loss and only produces mild toning.
Your body has a inherent knowledge of whether or not your using extra resistance or your body weight only. If body weight training was truly effective why have so many people who are very over weight who do pushups and sit ups and walk all the time not lose tons of weight.
If 2 people ran a mile and one was 160 lbs and had a 60 lb knapsack and the other was 220 lbs who would work harder and burn more calories.
The person who was 160 lbs and had a 60 lb knapsack.
5. What kind of ongoing coaching or support do they offer.-Most have none. If your program isn't working for you because you are eating poorly still they have no support systems in place for that. Some do though. Check them out!!
I hope tjis helps as there are some really cheap crappy programs out there that are getting people enrolled on price only. I even have seen a new one out of ontarion that promises to get you in shape with you working out only 2 times a week.

For a better beach body and booty, it's off to boot camp!
What should a woman to do when the winter weight gain doesn't melt away in the spring like it used to? A little Buddha belly may be cute on a three-year-old, but the thirtysomething-and-holding crowd needs a more streamlined physique for swimsuit season – more hourglass and less pear-shape.
Women who like to pull on a one-piece, sans sarong, for the beach, they need to challenge their wobbly bits to some new classes and revive their flagging fitness regimen.
As a expert I insist that doing the same old exercise routine causes your fitness level to plateau. Clocking 30-minute segments on the treadmill and then lugging yourself through a weight circuit (almost) three times a week gets old if you don't mix it up. So, where do you start? Pain, suffering and booty-tightening Fitness Boot Camps Canada!

Boot camp: Those are two scary words for a casual exerciser whose closest encounter with the aforementioned regimen is watching episodes of the Desperate housewives Bootcamp with the ex-football pro drilling his victims into fitness cadets. These weight-loss shows are at their most entertaining when you're cozied up on the couch with a handful of barbecue-flavoured Doritos, but I digress.
Welcome to http://www.fitnessbootcampscanada.com/
With 14 location in Calgary and plans to quickly expand to the rest of Canada and the USA you can bet that http://www.fitnessbootcampscanada.com is the #1 boot camp program out there.
Allan Fine, the camp's founder and personal trainer, opens the class with a cautionary pep talk: "Be prepared to be sore the next day."
He's med tall, slim and energetic and much better than the "drop-and-give-me-20-you-maggots" drill sergeant I was subconsciously dreading. Go has a big smile and talks about teamwork and supporting each other's progress. He's Mr. Positivity, my new self-help guide to a skinnier, happier me.
But you know what they say about first impressions.
We introduce ourselves. Some of the twentysomethings want to look good for the summer, the thirtysomethings want to melt some fat and a few over-45s are here to try something besides Jenny Craig to beat the middle-aged spread.
Now, the pre-workout stretch: We lie on our mats, bring up our knees and roll our hips to one side and then the other, to get out all the kinks from cubicle-land.
Ten minutes later, the fat-blasting begins in earnest:weight training, sit-ups, jumping jacks, squats, mountain-climbers (where you crouch down with your hands planted on the floor and move your legs like you're scrambling up steep terrain) and push-ups – lady-style from your knees if need be – with submachine gun-like speed. Oh, and did I mention the plank? That's the one designed for washboard abs where you're face down, your forearms solid and legs extended while you perch on the balls of your feet. This is a yoga move that starts out easy and quickly becomes a killer.
The moves are designed to provide the most effective way to work out in short, intensive intervals. Go has notes on a flipchart for reference, but I'm focused on getting through the workout.
The music's pumping and, in groups of three or four, we rotate through the series of exercises while Go corrects our form and yells out his most encouraging phrases: "Hey, you can do it!" "C'mon, let's step it up!" "I want to see faster jumping jacks. Faster!"
He's not in-your-face-pushy, but the 46-year-old is watching, scouring the room for stragglers and slow-movers. What ever happened to working at your own pace? After 45 minutes, my bangs are stuck to my forehead, and I'm shaky with exhaustion.
But you can't help smiling with his team-building huddle and group cheer of "One, two, three: Be sexy!" at the end of the class.
The program, Go says, is a quick fix – 3- 5 times a week for four – sixteen weeks, including a detailed diet change and motivational coaching calls to do at home . Most of his clients lose five- ten pounds or so, tone and drop a size or two.
It's guaranteed to work or your money back.
"One woman came to two boot camps and lost 25 pounds," Fine says. He went through a flabby period himself when he was 13 and then got hooked on weight-training . "Results keep them coming back," he says. "It's really cool and I'm totally geeked up about it."
The next day, I'm feeling a little stiff but pretty good. The day after, I'm hobbling slightly up stairs. Would I go back? Yes. Not because I'm into pain, but I could tell it was going to work!
